Self-titled Rock Goddess debut is our album of the week

Rock GoddessHeavy metal on A&M? The all-female rock trio Rock Goddess brought it to the label with their self-titled debut album in 1983.  Sisters Jody (lead vocals, guitar) and Julie Turner (drums) formed the band in 1977 with schoolmate Tracey Lamb (bass) at a young age (Jody was thirteen, and Julie nine), gigging and cutting their first demo by 1981.  Inclusion of an early track “Make My Night” to an all-girl compilation album named Making Waves, an appearance at the Reading Festival, and management connections courtesy of the Turners’ father, helped them score a record deal with A&M in 1982.  Their self-titled debut became a minor hit in their native UK, after which there were numerous personnel changes around the core of the Turner sisters. In recent years the original trio have been working on an as-yet untitled fourth reunion album.

I remember one Rock Goddess album titled "HELL HATH NO FURY" ( including its title track) i thought it was pretty good for an A&M Heavy metal Album. Although i was never into metal These young ladies got my attention. It shows that Girl groups ( like the Go Gos and Heart.) As well as Rock Goddess can really Jam just as good as the Guys can.

Hell Hath No Fury was indeed their second album, and that one featured replacement Dee O'Malley on bass after Tracey Lamb had departed. They had a third album that was shelved, and wasn't released until a couple of decades later in Europe only.

Can't say I've heard them yet, but am hunting something down to give them a listen. (They are not yet on Tidal, so I can't stream the albums to give them a try.)

I could say I'm a borderline fan of metal. I can't take a lot of it, but Black Sabbath are often considered the starting point of heavy metal (I have the first few albums on 180g vinyl, and the whole Ozzy era on high-res), a few Metallica titles, Rob Zombie, etc. But outside of some names, I haven't heard a lot of it.

BTW, somewhat amusing if you can find it, are Beatallica, a parody group which does covers of Beatles songs, performed in Metallica's style. The lyrics are often changed slightly (to humorous effect) to reflect the "metal" mindset. "Sgt. Hetfield's Motörhead Pub Band" for instance. (Which is kind of topical, seeing that Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister passed away a few days ago.)
