| So many images of Karen are out there. Want to know: what do you think is the best? Mine is the image on the cover of "Horizon". Sexy, seductive, coy, gorgeous. Any one care to differ? |

I've never really thought about this topic before. I do think Karen just got prettier and prettier as she matured.
I guess my all-time favorite photo is from the same session that produced the cover of LOVELINES -- the album cover shows her smiling, but I prefer a different photo where she looks serious. That's one of the most touching photos of Karen and Richard together.
The cover photo for VOICE OF THE HEART is another favorite.
But, now that I think about it, I do love the Annie Leibovitz photos for Rolling Stone magazine...

| My all time favorite photo...Karen in that red jacket from her solo sessions her shirt open in the front wearing a delicate necklace, arm on knee fingers touching, bracelet, head tilted sideways. That photo just speaks so many words, it's the only photo for me that shows her in today's fashion...far from her granny dresses. There is a touched up photo mostly seen on the net but the untouched photo can be found inside the jacket of the DVD-Close to You-Remembering the Carpenters. She's always been pretty but in that photo it's more than how she looked..it's the look she portrayed to the camera in her pose, so sophisticated, delicate, yet a strong person. |

Although I met K&R two years after the HORIZON shoot, Karen to me looked in person exactly as in photo of HORIZON cover shot. Strikingly pretty and very petite. Not skinny mind you, but small framed and well ...petite. Much shorter than I'd imagined. I'm 5'8 and it was strange to look down at a 5'4 superstar. In any event the photos from '75 and one particular promo shoot from '77 that I've seen closely resemble our girl. Now Richard is far more handsome in person. Not as awkward, squinty and goofy that he appears in so many videos and photos. He is at least 6' and looked bigger than that to a scrawny 15 y/o kid.

This one Chris?
I think it's probably my all time favourite too, apart from this one. I was amazed when I saw this, it's got to be the most sensuous of all the pictures ever taken of her, live on stage in Japan in 1974.

| I love this topic but at the same time realize that Karen didn't see herself as I (we) do, not to speak for the group. I don't have that right. The few times that I met Karen she was a delight, somewhat humorous when leaving the Music Fair and gave me her famous eyebrow lift comical face, or simple Karen in denim shorts just after a softball game. Photowise, my favorite is from the 'Horizon' concert booklet where she has her head back. I have it but don't know how to post a pic on here. Everyone has probably seen it anyway. |

| The solo photo one of her in the red jacket...had she had highlights in her hair? I love her photo album photo sessions. She looked so womanly and classy. |

Stephen, yes that is the one, thanks for providing side by side. It's funny how the left side is the one most often seen on the net, in fact it's the one I always thought was the original until it appeared on the inside jacket of the DVD. I any case I really love that photo of her, wish we could see the whole photo from that appears she was wearing black leather pants. |

Yeah it would be great to see a full length shot of her from this session, that's not grainy and pencil coloured, like some of those other pictures. I think they could be leather like you say or maybe even satin trousers she's wearing, remember the stories of Phil Ramone teasing her for her matching satin trousers and shoes while in New York? _________________ Stephen |
