Well, we made the jump to something a little more modern: XenForo is the new A&M Corner discussion board system.

The dust is settling, but over the next few days we'll add our logo back into the layout, make more changes to the default "tan" color theme, put our add-ons in place and get things working properly.

If you have any questions regarding usage of the forum, please post them in this thread.

    Thanks!
  2. Three minutes ago? Am I the first one to see this? Well, congratulations - I like what you've done with the place....

Yep, you squeaked in first! :D Wish I had some kind of trophy for that. (You even beat the staff here. )

As for me, it's 4:34am here and I'm bushed! Time to recover so I can get the rest of the loose ends tied up.

Looking forward to the return of the A&M logo in due course....

Looks great. It kind of reminds me of my girlfriend doing something to my house after watching HGTV again. (Honey, where are my record albums? :D)

    Me too! :D

I still have a list I'm working through, but it's all smaller tasks now. The major part is done. I need to transfer the smilies from another forum over here yet, and have a half dozen add-onds that need to be installed. The search indexing is going on right now, and I need to find all my old Photoshop files with the logos in them so I can make something new for a logo here.

Hmm. How does one go to "next topic" without having to go back to the "Forums" tab and then figuring out where you left off?

Best way to navigate the forum that I've found is to use the "What's New" link near the top. It'll have all of the latest posts by anyone in there - very similar to the old forums links to 1 day, 3 days, etc.

If there's nothing new, the link provides another link of most recent posts, even if you've seen them already.

One nice thing here is that new posts will stay marked as new posts unless 1) you read them or 2) specifically mark them as read using the links. It actually tracks your read posts in the database, so you can come back at any time. Other systems will sometimes consider messages as read if you leave the forum and return several hours later.

Also, when you click on the thread title in a forum listing, and it is bold (meaning: unread), your click will land you on the first unread post in the thread. In other systems, you have to click on a separate icon for it (on each thread). This is much easier.

BTW, I have been posting in so many places that I forgot to mention it here... :D

The site's home page will be offline until I install something in its place, which should be later today. The easy part is installing Wordpress for it; the hard part is transfering over all of the links and other things we had on the old home page. Much needed though. It will be much easier to update.

    I like what I see! :)

Thanks all! The work is still not done, and you'll see a few new add-ons showing up, but the hard part is over with!

:exactly:Wow, what an improvement over the old site.....thanks to Rudy and staff for all of the hard work it took to make it happen! Rudy, you should run for president.

I like this new look. I think it's a refreshing change, and I hope it will invigorate our discussions here.

I've found this true on two other forums I've switched over to XenForo: participation went up quite a bit after the change. I know part of it was initially from trying something new, but I think it is much more user-friendly overall, and makes members want to participate more. I'm checking in here more often myself, partly to make sure there are no problems, but it is just easier to reply, post images, embed videos, etc. I also like that I can share any thread on the forum with a single click of a "share" button.
