Alpert’s cover of “A Taste of Honey” was noted for surpassing the original song in popularity. So, some would say, was the TJB’s performance of “Zorba the Greek.” Are there any other good examples of TJB numbers more popular than the original songs on which they were based?

(To be sure, any answers would be questionable, since there are different ways to measure popularity. But I’d appreciate even a debatable answer.)

The TJB's version of "Mame" was the highest on the charts. They were the only group that charted with "Last Tango In Paris".

Sounds like Lenny Dee has a hard time starting "A Taste Of Honey", too--but listen to him GO!!!!
