Hi All,
New member here can i first say what a tremendous resource you folks have here! Thank you so much:)

I am looking for any history on the carpenters neon sign. I first saw it in the interview with Richard on the John Tess show.

Could anyone give me any history on this. Was it a one off or was it ever produced?

Hi Tony,

Welcome to the A&M Corner forums. Regarding the neon sign, I'm betting that was a custom job done either for or by the Carpenters. It might have been a gift, or something that Rich and Karen commissioned. But I have no information one way or the other - just hazarding a guess.

I must ask you about your avatar picture. It looks like a Springer Spaniel, which is what we now have for our first-ever dog. Ours is named Molly.

Hi Harry,

Thank you for the info, i seem to recall a chap named Steve Harvey mentioned on this forum might have one?

As to your question about my avatar, That was my first springer spaniel Jason. This picture was taken at the vets. Little did we know he would die 15 minutes later

due to complications from a fit he had earlier that day.

Sad story.......but a great avatar.

Tony, that is a sad story but what a great way to honor him in your avatar. Welcome to the forum as well!!

Harry, that photo is so clear, almost like I could reach out and pet her...so cute.

Thanks for sharing that story Tony. It had to be heartbreaking.

Molly is a little over a year old and was sitting by my side here in our den when my wife snapped that picture. Then she tasked me with removing the chair I was sitting in - the base and wheels were off to the left of Molly. Since I've improved my Photoshop skills, I attempted it, and that picture was the result. Basically I had to recreate the pattern of the den floor and a little bit of the carpeting beyond.

Molly's got a lot of energy and keeps us busy!

I remember seeing the Neon Sign with the Carpenters Logo at a Wherehouse Records Store in 1975 in Torrance, California. I have no idea where it came from or if it was a promo item for A&M, but I did see one back then. I wanted it. It was not for sale.

I wanted the neon logo sign the moment I saw it in opening shots of "The Karen Carpenter Story." I would gladly pay a nice chunk of change for one if I ever saw one for sale.

Have your own made - a custom sign. Just provide the artwork:

Or order one that's already made - rather pricey:

A little cheaper without the border:

I'd rather give it a go with EL wire instead. It looks like neon but is far better for detailed things, it's completely flexible and doesn't die over time. Maybe I'll order some this summer and try it....I'll post if I do.

Very Interesting. So this this kinda proves it was not a one off then for Richard. So the quest continues...

Wow thanks for that site harry, $679.00 is not bad but... alas it is not an original so it just would not feel right......

I wasn't sure where to post this since we have talked about this in several different threads.

Here is pic of the neon sign at Richard's house from Mook Book

Well today I saw this on ebay, first time ever seeing this for sale on ebay, it's not the exact match to the one in Richard's home but it's pretty darn close and the same color. If I had the money I would buy it.

I find myself obsessing over this coffee mug... from the images shown during the Larry King interview... which incidentally is so terrific.... but I digress... Anyone know if these mugs are available anywhere? anyplace? Thx!

A friend of mine actually went to neon sign maker and had the sign recreated. It's a little smaller than the original, but it looks great!
