Herb Alpert Diamonds Single CD

Does anyone know how to get a copy of the remix CD single without paying $100+? I have a promotional LP but the CD has more versions and remixes.

That CD single has had a high price on it for years, and it doesn't seem to be getting any cheaper!

If I'm not mistaken, there were at least two different 12" promotional records issued with various "Diamonds" mixes on them. I've never checked, but is it possible that all of the mixes on the CD are also contained on the various 12" issues?

I know that between the two 12" discs I have plus 45 singles and promo 45s, I have quite a few mixes of "Diamonds". I'll check further when I get home, unless someone answers it beforehand.

Pony Canyon, the A&M licensee for Japan at the time (1987) released this CD (D25Y3171) to the public. A&M here in the U.S. released the CD as (CD 17476) promo only.

Ah - research and fading memories! I just spent the last hour or so rediscovering that which I posted six years ago - that all of the "Diamonds" mixes and remixes that were on the Japanese CD can be found on two 12" records - and it's all listed right here!

I saw the CD over on eBay listing for a slightly more reasonable $85 or so and was trying to match up the titles with what I had on 12" discs, and ran across the old problem of some of the mixes not showing the "Cool Summer" designation on the vinyl versions. But comparing timings, I reasoned that they surely had to be the same as the CD versions.

Well, if nothing else, I managed to dub the SP-12231 Diamonds mixes to digital.

I did the same thing years ago, because I knew someday these would be pretty rare. And here we are...
