Beverly actually has a nice voice. She did all of her own vocals when she portrayed Patsy Cline in the movie Coal Miner's Daughter and sounded great. Three of her performances were included on the MCA soundtrack album. I don't know when this album was recorded but it wouldn't surprise me if it came about as a result of her performance in that movie. (Sissy Spacek released an album on Atlantic Records a few years following the movie as well.)

It would've been released in 1983... So you're probably right that her work in Coal Miner's Daughter led to the record deal...
